It is absolutely possible to change your level of happiness and improve your outlook on life with the use of mindful meditation and affirmations! By being aware of your thoughts and directing them to the side of love and positivity, you can greatly affect the way in which you see yourself and your experience with others around you.
You can use affirmations in your meditation practice or throughout your day as needed. You can write down some of your favorites on post-it notes and place them around your home where you know you will see them every day, such as a bathroom mirror. A good practice to get into, is to find an affirmation that resonates the most with you and repeat it to yourself as soon as you wake up in the morning.
Dr. Shauna Shapiro, a well known speaker, author and Professor of Psychology (Watch her TED Talk on mindfulness here) has found great peace and an increase in self love by repeating the following affirmation every morning. "Good morning. I love you (insert your name)." You may find it feels corny or funny to say it at first; and it may feel like just words to you, but give it time and you'll begin to 'feel' the words and in a little more time you'll feel the love.
